Brewing your own Biofertiliser - Episode 14 - How to Do It Series 2

Hi Everyone,
Welcome back to season 2 of the “How To Do It” video series. This week you are set to discover the potential of utilising part of the wonderful digestive system of the cow to create your own, powerhouse, microbial inoculum/fertiliser for the soil. You might wonder why we would embrace this messy process when we could surely choose the less disgusting option spurting from the rear end.
Brewing rumen can deliver a diverse group of organisms of tremendous value in the soil. These include multiple strains of lactobacillus, yeast, protozoa and other beneficial bacteria. However, the most important component of this unique ecosystem is a range of anaerobic, cellulose digesting fungi that are tailored to attack and digest the forage, as it is delivered down the chute.
“Why can’t you source that valuable microbiome from the poo?” I hear you thinking.
Well, here’s how it works. Cows get the main source of their protein by digesting rumen organisms, so, by the time the waste is deposited, it no longer contains many of these beneficials.
We had a fun time making this video and it was messy. However, you would not typically leave the drum of rumen in full sun during a hot weekend. It was ripe and difficult to manage, as you will see. However, it produced a beautiful microbial blend that proved really special.
I hope you all gain some insights here, even if it’s a demonstration of what not to do. The latter half of this video is complemented by the insights of agronomist/consultant Adam Coates who produces these videos.
Happy Nutrition Farming!
Warm regards,

Aloe-Tech™
Christopher Columbus identified four crops which he considered indispensable for human survival and well-being – grapes, olives, wheat and aloe vera.
Aloe vera is a powerful botanical activator and plant growth promotant that increases phytoalexin production and improves overall plant health. Aloe-Tech™ is a whole-leaf aloe vera concentrate (500% stronger than standard aloe extracts). Research suggests that Aloe-Tech™ is the most powerful fungi booster currently available.
